Cutting Style and Gemstone Shape have an important effect on RARITY. For Alexandrites, from mine to market the gemstone’s weight is emphasized by focusing on shapes like Oval and Cushion. Therefore, shapes with sharper corners are avoided. This piece comes in the unique Triangle Shape, which is one of the least common shapes of all gemstones, making this 1.01 Alexandrite quite uncommon. The Natural Birth mark type inclusions further support evidence that it is indeed a natural gemstones (as noted in the GIA report, like all our Alexandrites). With medium color change, and over the 0.99 ct Alexandrite threshold for additional rarity, we dont think this Alexandrite will be replaced anytime soon.
